Large Format Tree Grates
Urban trees often demand more soil volume than a single grate can provide. Large-format tree grate arrays allow designers to expand coverage in one or both directions while maintaining a cohesive pattern and clean perimeter.
By combining standard grates with compatible extension panels, these assemblies support healthier root systems, accommodate long-term growth, and create a unified surface that integrates naturally with surrounding paving.
PROJECT DETAILS: Rain 42″ x 42″ and 30″ x 30″ heel-proof grate panels combined to create three large arrays – the left and right arrays are 5′ x 79′-7″, and the middle array is 7′ x 79′-7″. Raw cast iron.

Stormwater Management

Arrayed grate systems make it possible to manage high water volumes while maintaining consistent slot geometry, pattern alignment, and load performance across the entire run. These applications support large-scale drainage needs while preserving pattern alignment and a clean, intentional surface.
This is one in a series of stormwater flumes topped with arrays of our Oblio 27″ x 37″ and 27″ x 47″ grates. Cast iron with “antique bronze pearlescent” powder coat finish.
