When @BlocDesignIsNowV3 designed this stunning 8,000 sf rooftop terrace garden in downtown Charlotte, they incorporated many bespoke elements, including custom drains along the sloped building face. Because #DetailsMatter they chose the clean lines of our heel-proof Rain grates in cast aluminum, perfectly matching the color palette and elevated aesthetic of their overall design.

@IDOTimages asked us to cast these 30” Dia. bronze plaques for a new highway overpass project with a patriotic theme. The plaques were installed on the wing walls of the bridge, each representing one of the branches of service (#AirForce #Army #CoastGuard #Marines #Navy).
Unlike plaques designed to be embedded in floor and ground surfaces, these were not subject to ADA standards for accessibility. This allowed us to add a high degree of relief, which when combined with the patina finish and highlights, made these iconic emblems really “pop”.

Combining grate panels allows for the design of large arrays in an infinite variety of sizes and layouts. We aim to offer you creative flexibility, making it easier to place and protect more trees in ADA-compliant spaces.
@FlouraTeeter took us up on that offer, incorporating these eye-catching arrays of Rain grates into their re-imagining of Baltimore’s @LexingtonMarket plaza. They created a dynamic urban area, made infinitely better by the inclusion of over 40 trees in their project design.

@SWAGroup utilized the flexibility of our Proto fence design in their Bagby Street Improvement Plan for Downtown Houston. Incorporating large planting areas in a variety of shapes and sizes, their award-winning project design helped define a safe, beautiful new corridor for pedestrians and cyclists to connect to major destinations from the city’s west side through downtown.

Custom metal castings are a sustainably beautiful way to elevate your project. A case in point is this luxury condominium’s elegant entrance, featuring cast bronze door pulls, side panels, address signage, and a decorative plaque. Each element features a uniquely stylized “rose” design befitting the condo’s location in the heart of the @PikeandRose community. We loved working with the creatives at Seattle-based design firm Foreseer to bring this artistry to life.

@SkBArchitects was brought in to re-imagine the lobby of Seattle’s iconic US Bank Center, and true to form, no detail was left behind. Playing off a curvilinear theme and incorporating a complementary mix of materials, colors, and textures, the resulting design is truly stunning. We’re biased, but we especially like the repurposing of our cast iron Bullseye grates into a functional yet eye-catching walk-off mat.

Take a peek inside the foundry. . . typically, we do what’s called “closed mold” casting (i.e. molten metal is poured into the internal cavity of a mold, which is made up of sections that can open to allow the casting to be removed).
In this video, however, we are showing an open mold. Pouring into an open mold has a useful purpose (enabling us to examine flow patterns and troubleshoot any possible issues before a product is cast), but it's also just amazing to watch!

We love to re-visit project locations, experiencing seasonal changes and documenting the graceful aging of our castings over time.
A few weeks ago, on a Thanksgiving trip to #NYC, we again found ourselves in the timelessly elegant, @PWPLA designed pedestrian plaza just outside @One_Vanderbilt. Lit by the warm glow of holiday lights, images of that visit showcase how wonderful winter landscape design can be.
The last photo in this montage shows our first visit to this project. It was back in the Summer of 2020, right after our cast iron Que radius trench grates with baked-on-oil finish were installed.
As you can see from these “before” and “after” images, our grates looked just as good upon installation as they do today. That’s because our baked-on-oil finish mimics the look of an aged grate. Oxidation is still happening beneath the surface, but this natural finish hides the “rusty” phase of cast iron aging, offering a seamless transition to final patina.
